The"spice tour" in Stonetown. It was a learning experience for sure! This tour shows how many spices that we use everyday grow. For example, the vanilla bean grows on a vine, cinnamon from the bark of a tree, and nutmeg is a seed in the middle of a fruit. You would be amazed at the things grown here. No more having to waste money on lipstick...they grow some kind of fruit you can wear as lipstick!!! If I tried to spell the names of some of these I would butcher them so bad, so I won't even try!! It was really cool because at the end of the tour, men climb up the coconut trees in their bare feet to pick them.

In the picture with us all, we were sitting on the ground in the place where the slaves on this island used to get auctioned off, so very sad. It was a very real and heartwrenching experience to walk through the places where human lives were once treated so incredibly awful.

This is the meat market there.....if you look on the sides you will see random pieces of meat just hanging, and people walk by and just buy what they want! Really makes us appreciate our nicely packaged meat in our stores huh?!! :-)

Oh yes, and this last picture I wanted to show you how sweet the ladies at the hotel were to mom on her birthday!! She had an amazing birthday on Zanzibar, and got to go snorkeling for the first time as well!
Please keep us in prayer, we will be having a women's conference Saturday, last year there were 800 women, this year could be more...C'mon Jesus!!! Please pray for the Lord's will to be accomplished!

Georgia,
ReplyDeleteThe Bus trip sounds like it should be in a movie but to get to Zanzibar it was needed. The tour in Zanzibar should be one that all should take, it would touch thier spirit, it does mine just reading about it and seeing the pictures. Slavery is over but many new forms of it now exist and we all need to continue that every yoke is broken and replaced with the Love of Christ, Lover of our spirit.
I know all will go well for you, and you are the best one for this job, your heart is full of love and compasion, this shows to all you meet and they accept you and the message you bring.
Love you, Dad
That is so very sweet my wonderful dad that I love, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love your take of our trip and the pictures I haven't seen yet. Today you are at the conference. Can't wait to hear what the Lord did with it. Please give Gaudy a kiss for me.
ReplyDeleteMuch love, Mom
